“The world as we have created it is a process of our thinking. It cannot be changed without changing our thinking.” - Albert Einstein
This blog is an experiment in changing my thinking towards aging. So, here we go...
I am about 6 months in on a job change that took me back into the field and working from a home office and about 6 months from turning 50. Two things. Holy shit and holy shit.
You get A LOT of advice, mostly unsolicited, when people find out you have a big birthday coming up. Especially women. My husband barely got any commentary except the occasional Viagra or age joke. I am asking for advice. Bring it on. I hate getting older. I HATE my face and body changing. I HATE the way people treat aging women.
Confession: I am not always the kindest to middle aged women. I have thought a lot about why. I think it comes down to an outlook that seems to get more and more negative as women age or life situations change. Does it come down to they have changed but their thinking hasn't kept up? There is no support for change. Misery loves company and women will drag each other down before they will boost each other up. WHY? Why do we act like crabs in a bucket?
